2/6/11 Katie's Healthy Eating Journal: Sunday

by Katie (Jenny Craig 2009 Poster Girl) 6. February 2011 19:16

I'm so excited!  I lost more weight this morning.  I'm almost to my first goal weight at JC.  Why is it better to choose smaller weight loss goals?  According to the website, www.nhlbi.nih.gov, your goal should be attainable, specific, and forgiving (because none of us are perfect).  For example, I will work out for 30 minutes every other day and have a goal of losing 10 pounds by portion control and reducing sodium and sugar.  It is specific, attainable, and since ten pounds is a small weight loss it allows for a little bit of cheating along the way and an every other day exercise regime allows for busy days or days when you're just tired.  It will help you to keep your work outs more regular and your weight loss more achievable.  If you set too large of goals you will feel like a failure and want to give up.  Even I felt like giving up these past few weeks when I was trying so hard and maintaining or just losing .4 pounds.  If you stick to it eventually you will see results.  The trick is to staying positive; I had lots of moments where I wasn't and I truly believe my mind has a lot to do with whether or not I'm going to see a loss.  Good luck and if you try hard with your exercise and portion control you will see success!
