I snore and have issues according to my significant other with breathing at times. I heard there were great oral appliances you can use to help iprevent snoring without needing a CPAP machine. Does anyone know where I can find the mouth guard like appliance with the screw adjustment in front to move my lower jaw slightly each night? I heard that is the best and fairly cheap but can't find it anywhere. Can anyone help me? I think it was invented in Florida but I'm not sure.
Thank you in advance.

There are many oral appliances available to treat snoring and sleep apnea with oral appliances. www.ihatecpap.com has great information on the problems and the variety of appliances available. There is a doctor listed in the Ithaca area

I see thousands of doctors on www.Ithaca.MD and all of my own are included but non are registered in Ithaca, as a sleep disorder doctor. I love this site and use it for just about everything health related and for the great sleep disorder articles... but why doctors not in a sleep disorder category and why are you not registered on Ithaca.MD, if you are a sleep doctor in Ithaca?

I am not in Ithaca but Janice Hall Ormsby, DDS who I trained is in Ithaca. The treatment of sleep apnea is a medical disorder and will require a consultation to begin treatment. Most group medical policies will cover treatment. There are inexpensive over the counter snoring appliances but treatment of sleep apnea is more complex. The TAP appliance is the appliance I think you described. The information on appliances can be found at http://www.ihatecpap.com/oral_appliance.html.
